The index of industrial production (IIP) May fell 1.6 percent, compared with growth of 2.3 percent in April, well below market expectations of 1.4 percent. Analysts fear that this could be directly related to the first quarter GDP numbers.In a disappointment, the price index (CPI) also rose slightly to 9.87 percent in June, compared with 9.31 percent in May, in the hope of reducing of aggressive lowering of interest rates by the Reserve Bank of India. The government will release wholesale inflation in June Monday and markets expect the figure is about 4.8 percent, against 4.7 percent in May.  "We expect markets to remain volatile in the future, the biggest concern in the markets is to stimulate economic growth," said S Naren, chief investment officer of the Criminal Code of ICICI Prudential.
